With former Prime Minister and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal facing legal action in the Patanjali land scam, internal party tensions have escalated. The Special Court recently ordered his release on a bail of Rs 35 lakh, and his parliamentary position has been suspended. Nepal is among 93 individuals charged by the anti-graft body in a case involving illegal transactions of protected land in Kavrepalanchok under the name of Patanjali Yogpeeth.
Amid this controversy, party leader Ram Kumari Jhakri publicly questioned the chair’s position. Speaking at a youth training program in Butwal on Ashar 15, she remarked, “There are legal and constitutional challenges surrounding the chairman. Many others across parties face similar issues. But we can’t carry dead weight on our shoulders anymore.”
Following her statement, the party’s Central Disciplinary Commission, through its deputy chief Balchandra Mishra, has asked Jhakri to submit a clarification within three days starting Ashar 17. The party seeks an explanation for her remarks that directly challenged the leadership of Chair Nepal.
