A team under Han Moon Hee, CEO of Korea Railroad Corporation, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today to talk about railway development in Nepal.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, the Korean company, which has 126 years of experience in railways, expressed its interest in helping Nepal build railway lines.

An animation video of the “Everest Railway Project” from Chatara Dham to Chaurikharka, prepared by Sky Walk Company, was also shown during the meeting.

In the discussion, attended by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal and Investment Board CEO Sushil Gyawali, Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal has already started railway service in Janakpur and is studying other possible areas for expansion. He welcomed Korea’s interest as a positive step.

Earlier, the Korean team also met with Nepal’s Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Investment Board. They agreed to form a joint working group to study and plan railway construction together.
