The initial minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley has been recorded at 6 degrees Celsius. According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the temperature was measured at 6°C at 5:45 am on Saturday.
The Division said this is only a preliminary reading. The official minimum temperature for the day will be recorded again at 8:45 am, and the temperature may drop slightly at that time.
On Friday, the initial minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 5.7°C, but it fell to 5.2°C during the official measurement.
Meteorologists say cloudy weather at night usually keeps early morning temperatures a bit higher, while clear skies often cause temperatures to fall more.
The Weather Forecasting Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 pm.
