The teachers' protest in Kathmandu, organized by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, is continuing today after talks with the government failed to reach an agreement.
Federation President Laxmi Kishore Subedi urged all teachers and school staff to gather at Maitighar Mandala at 11 am, saying that stronger protests are needed to meet their demands. “The government is not willing to give us what we deserve. We must protest to get results,” he said.
Although there were long discussions with the Ministry of Education on Monday night, no deal was made. Education Minister Raghuji Pant said the talks were heading in a “positive direction,” but President Subedi said that while some progress was made, many important issues are still not solved.
The protests have been going on for over a month, with most of them centered in Kathmandu.
