Recently, a fire broke out last Tuesday afternoon in the Mahabharat jungle in Kavre. Despite using helicopters to control the fire, it is still not under control. The Ministry of Home Affairs sent helicopters with 24,000 liters of water yesterday. Despite all this action, the fire does not seem to be under control. The fire is spreading all over the jungle.
The chairman of Bethanchok Rural Municipality, Bhagwan Adhikari, says that places like Ramitedanda and Zwanethumko, which are near the residential areas, have seen the fire come under control. According to Chairman Adhikari, it has become very difficult to put out the fire in the jungle. That is why they asked for help from the ministry for the helicopter, hoping it might bring some change. The helicopter picked up water from the pond built at Guwabanjyang in Ward No. 2 and poured it on the Setibhir area of Mahabharat.
According to the Kavre Division Forest Office, the fire has spread over 100 hectares. The fire in the Mahabharat jungle, located on the border of Bethanchok and Mahabharat municipalities, has also put other forest areas at risk. As a result, Bethanchok Municipality has prohibited tourists from entering the forest area.
