The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has invited protesting teachers for a discussion to solve the ongoing issues.
Ministry spokesperson Shiv Kumar Sapkota released a statement asking the Nepal Teachers’ Federation to stop their protest and come for talks. He said the government is ready to discuss important matters with the teachers, just like in the past, and work together to find a solution. He welcomed the representatives of teachers and education staff to the ministry for the meeting.
Sapkota also said that everyone is waiting for the School Education Bill to be passed, and the ministry is positive about spreading a clear message on it. He explained that the bill was prepared after proper consultation with teacher representatives, so it's natural that teachers are concerned and want it passed soon.
He reminded that the bill has to go through the official process—being presented in parliament, discussed, and then approved.
Yesterday, a meeting was held at Singha Durbar with Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai, and representatives of the teachers. They all agreed to address the teachers’ demands and finalize the bill as soon as possible.
