Light Snowfall in the Highlands of Gorkha

Light snowfall has been occurring in the highlands of Gorkha, including in Samagaun, Samdo and Lho and in Chekampar, since 3 am on April 9,  Nima Lama, chair of Chumnubri rural municipality, told Nepal Verified News over the phone on Thursday.  

The situation is under control as of now with no disruption in daily life, he said: The situation can affect life if snowing continues for 3-4 days.

Light snowfall for a day or so won't make make much of a difference, he said: On the contrary, snowfall is good for crops. 

Whereas in several other parts of the country, wildfires have been raging, there is no fear of wildfires in our village, he said: our rural municipality is a wildfire-free zone.
