The recent wave of violent protests in Nepal has drawn international concern, with the UN, India, China, and several Western nations urging restraint and dialogue.

The United Nations said it was deeply saddened by the deaths and injuries. Secretary-General António Guterres called for an impartial investigation and stressed that demonstrations must remain peaceful and respectful of human rights.

India and China, Nepal’s close neighbours, also responded. India expressed sorrow over the casualties, advised its citizens in Nepal to remain cautious, and emphasized that disputes should be solved through talks. China voiced confidence that Nepal could restore peace and stability on its own, describing the country as a trusted neighbour and friend.

Western nations, including the United States, European Union, Australia, the UK, Germany, Japan, and South Korea, released a joint statement condemning the violence. They extended sympathies to victims’ families and called for protection of civil liberties.

The European Union specifically demanded an independent investigation into the deaths during the protests, highlighting the importance of accountability.
