Gen-Z Protests Trigger Over Rs 22 Billion in Insurance Claims, Bagmati Leads

Insurance claims totaling NPR 22.25 billion have been filed following the damages caused during the recent Gen-Z protests, the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) reported. Bagmati Province has seen the highest claims, amounting to NPR 17.97 billion.

According to the NIA, a total of 1,343 claims have been submitted so far. Across 18 insurance companies, including microinsurance providers, 2,478 claim applications have been received.

The protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 resulted in widespread fire and property damage in both public and private sectors. The authority clarified that most claims pertain to private property losses due to arson and vandalism. With extensive physical damage reported, the total claim amount is expected to rise further.
