In the final week of 2024, four significant air accidents have raised serious concerns about aviation safety. These incidents occurred across different countries, highlighting potential gaps in safety protocols.

In South Korea, a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok crashed at Muan International Airport due to a landing gear malfunction. The crash claimed 179 lives. Two crew members were rescued alive, but the tragedy has cast a shadow over the country’s political and aviation landscape.

In Canada, an Air Canada Express flight faced a landing gear failure at Halifax Airport, forcing an emergency evacuation. Though no one was injured, passengers reported flames and smoke, raising questions about aircraft maintenance protocols.

In Kazakhstan (December 25), Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, killing 38 and injuring 29. While initially blamed on a bird strike, investigations now point to a possible Russian air-defense system strike. Black boxes are being analyzed, and investigations continue.

In Norway, a KLM flight experienced a hydraulic failure, forcing an emergency landing at Oslo Airport. Although all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, the incident added to the week’s string of aviation mishaps.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter safety measures and thorough maintenance checks to ensure the safety of passengers and restore public trust in air travel.
