Baishakh (mid-April to mid-May) hardly brings any rain.
Still, like in previous seasons, best wishes are raining heavily for the Nepalis from across the political spectrum—from the self-styled leaders of the proletariat to the former royalty—as another new year of the Bikram Sambat (2082) begins.

Let's do a cursory reading of some of those fervent wishes.

Prime Minister and president of the CPN-UML, the second largest party in the Federal Parliament with 79 seats, wrote on X:

May the New Year 2082 BS bring achievements as towering as Sagarmatha for the nation and its people. Warmest wishes!

Sher Bahadur Deuba, former PM and president of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in the parliament, has expressed his best wishes to all brothers and sisters on the occasion of the new year. Deuba has stressed the need for all people, political parties and responsible authorities to move together for economic development and prosperity.

In his message, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former PM and chair of the CPN (Maoist Center), the third largest party in the parliament (32 seats), has appealed to the people to move ahead unitedly for building a bright future and a prosperous nation.

While the former king, Gyanendra Shah, has expressed hope that the new year will herald welcome changes, proposing all parties and people to take to the Prithvi Path, in the footsteps of the re-unifier of Nepal, the Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah. Notably, he has expressed regret for the violence and the loss of life during the March 28 protest at Tinkune.

Another former PM, Maoist ideologue and convenor of the Socialist Party of Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai, has, through his X post, expressed wishes to one and all on the occasion of the Nepali new year.

He wrote: Let the Nepali people be free from all kinds of kings and princelings. Let progressive and alternative forces flourish. Let the new year open the door for good governance and prosperity.

Through X, the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the third largest party in the parliament (21 seats), has expressed its best wishes on the occasion of the new year.

On behalf of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, the fifth largest party in the parliament (14 seats), party Chair Rajendra Lingden has wished: Let 2082 BS be a year of bliss, peace and prosperity for all Nepalis.
