The Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued an alert for potential flooding today (Friday, Saun 16), advising the public to remain cautious.
According to this morning’s measurements, the water levels of major rivers like Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, Kamala, Bagmati, Eastern Rapti, Western Rapti, Babai, and Kankai are currently below warning levels. However, the department warns that these rivers may rise later in the day.
There is a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through districts like Bajhang, Achham, Surkhet, Dailekh, and Jajarkot.
Similarly, rivers in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Rasuwa, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, Lamjung, Rolpa, Rukum West, Jumla, Mugu, Dolpa, Darchula, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura are also expected to swell, posing a moderate risk of sudden flooding.
Heavy rainfall is likely in these 28 districts, which have been marked under a yellow alert, and residents are advised to stay alert and prepared.
