Ensure Steady Power Supply Along Birgunj-Pathlaiya Industrial Corridor: BiCCI

Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BiCCI) has demanded an end to what it called an undeclared loadshedding along the Birgunj-Pathlaiya industrial corridor. Issuing a press release, it has called the state-owned power utility, the Nepal Electricity Authority, to explore an alternative to the undeclared load-shedding, expressing concern over the tendency of opting for power cuts without issuing a notice.

BiCCI pointed out that industries along the corridor have been unable to operate in full capacity due to the lack of a regular and quality power supply.

Increasing power cuts and the lack of quality power supply is causing the breakdown of machines and wastage of raw materials, affecting the production process as a whole, it stated.

It has called upon the NEA to impose load-shedding within fixed hours and ensure a steady power supply during the remaining hours.

BiCCI has also urged the government to seek a long-term solution to the chronic problem of interrupted power supply during the winter season every year.
