The Election Commission has asked four election candidates to submit written explanations following complaints alleging breaches of the election code of conduct. Those asked for clarification include senior Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balen Shah, CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet, Shram Sanskriti Party Chair Harka Sampang, and independent candidate Nicholous Bhusal.
According to the Commission, complaints were lodged claiming the candidates made public statements that violated election laws, democratic norms, and the code of conduct by spreading hate speech, misinformation, and defamatory remarks. Acting on these complaints, the Commission has directed the concerned candidates to provide written clarification within the stipulated deadline.
