The Election Commission has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to effectively enforce the election campaign prohibition period.
The Commission has instructed Chief District Officers and security agencies to take immediate legal action and report any violations of the Code of Conduct. It has also urged a ban on the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcohol from seven days before the voting day until the final results are announced.
On voting day, all public and private vehicles will be prohibited from operating, except for essential services. Air travel will continue as usual, and passengers with tickets will be allowed to use airlines or private vehicles, the Commission clarified.
Additionally, voters must carry at least one of the following documents when going to the polling station: voter ID, citizenship certificate, national ID card, passport, land ownership certificate, or driving license. A special unit will be set up at the Commission’s Secretariat to distribute vehicle passes for use on voting day, according to the statement.
