National Human Rights Commission Chair Tap Bahadur Magar has said that free, fair, and fear-free elections are vital for the stability of democracy.
Speaking at an interaction program on Wednesday, he stressed that voters must be able to cast their ballots independently and without intimidation, and called for an environment that allows citizens to choose capable representatives. He also expressed concern over misleading information on social media, warning that it could confuse voters during the election period.
Magar added that candidates must not only pledge good governance and anti-corruption efforts but also clearly commit to following the election code of conduct.
At the same event, Nepal Police AIG Dambar Bahadur B.K. said Nepal Police will lead the first security ring at polling stations, followed by the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army. He stated that security personnel deployed for the elections have high morale and are fully prepared.
