Rishi Dhamala, a well-known media personality and candidate for the upcoming House of Representatives election from Rautahat-4, has claimed that he entered the electoral race after turning down the lure of a ministerial post.

Speaking at an interaction program with local journalists in Chandranigahpur, Rautahat, on Thursday, Dhamala said his political journey is not driven by a desire for power but by a commitment to bring change to the country. According to him, Prime Minister Sushila Karki and leaders of the “Gen Z” movement had repeatedly urged him to accept a ministerial position, but he declined.

“A ministerial post is not a big thing for me. I did not enter politics for power, but to change the condition of the people,” he said, adding that he has no ambition for authority or position and has come to Rautahat solely for development.

Dhamala claimed he would play an active role in eliminating poverty and illiteracy in Rautahat and in giving the country a new direction. He said he has been visiting households from early morning until midnight, listening to people’s concerns.

He is contesting the election under the Mobile Phone symbol from the Aam Janata Party led by Prabhu Sah. With his long experience in journalism and his candidacy from Rautahat-4, the electoral contest in the constituency has become increasingly intriguing.

Dhamala also pledged that if elected, he would transform Rautahat into a model district and work toward building a corruption-free society.
