Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Raghuji Pant, said he is confident that the School Education Bill 2080 will be passed by the House of Representatives by June 29 (Asar 15).

He spoke about this on Saturday during a meeting on early childhood development, organized by the Federal Parliamentarians’ Coordination Group. Minister Pant said the government is working quickly to finalize and approve the bill.

“All real concerns will be addressed in the Education Bill. We are moving forward, and it will be passed by Asar 15,” he said.

Pant also shared that the Ministry is working to solve the issues raised by teachers, such as teaching positions and school mergers. He promised that earlier agreements between the government and teachers will be included in the bill as much as possible.

“The law must change with time and reflect today’s needs,” he said. “Only those demands that fit the constitution and are financially affordable will be accepted.”

Talking about an earlier deal with teachers, Minister Pant said, “When we signed the nine-point agreement, I said it was like cash in hand. That agreement will start being implemented from Shrawan (July 17).”

He also said the government is open to useful and affordable suggestions to improve the education system.

“We need to be clear about how early childhood development fits into the education system and how to support children's growth through good policies,” he added.

Meanwhile, Amar Bahadur Thapa, who leads the House Education, Health, and Information Committee, said it is important to improve the education system with clear goals.
