Earthquake Strikes Sindhupalchok on Memorial Day

While the country was observing Earthquake Memorial Day, a tremor was felt in Sindhupalchok. 

The earthquake struck at 11:53 AM in the Phulpingkot area of the district. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.1. No reports of damage have been received so far. 

On April 25, 2015 (12th of Baishakh, 2072), a devastating earthquake of a much larger magnitude caused significant loss of life and property across the country. In memory of this tragedy, Earthquake Memorial Day is observed every year to honor the victims, remember the loss, and raise awareness on earthquake preparedness and safety.
