Leaders aligned with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba arrived at the Election Commission early Friday morning amid an escalating internal dispute over party legitimacy.
According to sources, senior leaders including Bimalendra Nidhi, Ramesh Rizal, Shyam Ghimire, Kalyan Gurung and Jeetjung Basnet reached the Commission’s Kantipath office. Their visit comes a day after the Gagan–Vishwa faction submitted a formal petition seeking official recognition following its special general convention that elected new leadership.
With rival claims now before the Commission, the dispute has intensified, placing the election body under growing pressure to deliver a decisive ruling. Sources say the Deuba faction is mobilizing leaders and supporters at the Commission to strengthen its position and influence the outcome.
