The ninth Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML is continuing for a second day today.

On Monday, the first day of the meeting was held at the UML headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur, under the leadership of Prime Minister and party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. According to the head of the UML’s Publicity Department, Rajendra Gautam, 49 central committee members shared their views on important reports.

The main discussions were about two key documents: a proposal to amend the party’s statute presented by Vice President Bishnu Prasad Poudel, and an organizational proposal presented by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel. Both of these will be presented at the party’s upcoming second general convention.

Gautam said that members from Gandaki Province, Madhes Province, the Valley Special Province, and the Liaison Coordination Committee took part in Monday’s discussions. Most of them supported the statute amendment proposal, which had already been approved by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo.

Another topic that came up was the renewal of party membership by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Each speaker was given three minutes to express their views.

A committee has been formed to summarize the discussions from the meeting. It is led by Politburo member Surya Thapa, with Bishnu Rijal and Niraj Acharya as members.
