Nepali Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have asked Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign, citing the need for a new national agreement to address the country’s growing unrest.

Speaking on Tuesday, they said the seven-point agreement linking their party to the government is no longer relevant and called on Congress ministers to immediately leave their posts. They warned that if no action is taken soon, the party may take other steps.

The leaders criticized PM Oli for failing to respond to repeated warnings and for his handling of public protests. They strongly condemned the recent crackdown on Gen-Z demonstrators, which left 19 people dead and hundreds injured.

Thapa and Sharma said the young protesters were demanding justice, transparency, and accountability, not political positions. They urged demonstrators to continue their movement peacefully and encouraged all political parties to work together to find solutions through dialogue.
