Chitwan Police Officer Suspended After Viral Assault Video

Budhhi Bahadur Gharti Bhujel, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) has been suspended after a viral video showed him assaulting a young man on the bypass road in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan. 

The video was widely shared on social media platform, especially on facebook which brought the incident to the attention of the authorities.  The video shows, Bhujel repeatedly kicking the man, accusing him of “showing his power” and “making a phone call” before continuing the assault. 

The incident took place on December 30, 2024. The video sparked widespread outrage across the country, prompting immediate action from Chitwan Police. 

SP Gautam Mishra, Chief of the District Police Office, has confirmed ASI Bhujel's suspension and assured that the inquiry is ongoing. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible, in accordance with the law.
