The month of April this year has gone down in the history of Nepali tourism industry as a record-breaking month, if data from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) are any indication. 

Per the NTB, Nepal recorded the highest number of international visitor arrivals (IVAs) for any April in history, highlighting Nepal’s continued tourism rebound and a growing global appeal.


Per the NTB, Nepal welcomed a total of 116,490 international visitors this April, marking a five percent increase compared to April 2024.

This April, IVAs reached 106.5 percent of the pre-pandemic level (April 2019), showing strong recovery and sustained growth.

As for cumulative IVAs (January–April 2025), Nepal has welcomed 415,048 international visitors in the first four months of 2025.

Top five source markets for this April were India with 25,933 visitors, accounting for 22.3 percent of the pie, followed by the USA (10,053), constituting 8.6 percent of the pie, China (9,037 visitors), constituting 7.8 percent, the UK (6,738), constituting 5.8 percent and Bangladesh (5,398), constituting 4.6 percent of the pie.


Region-wise, South Asia (SAARC) accounted for 33,899 (29.1 percent) of the arrivals this April, Asia (Other) 22,167 (19 percent), Europe 30,249 (26 percent), Oceania 6,023 (5.2 percent), Americas 12,775 (11 percent), the Mideast 3,504 (three percent), Africa 425 (0.4 percent), while Others accounted for 7,448 arrivals (6.4 percent).
