A plane carrying close to 50 people has gone missing in Russia’s far eastern region.
According to Reuters, quoting Russian officials, an Antonov An-24 aircraft operated by Angara Airlines suddenly disappeared from radar while flying over Siberia. The plane was en route to Tynda, a city near the Chinese border in the Amur region.
Vasily Orlov, the governor of the region, said that, based on initial reports, the aircraft had 43 passengers and 6 crew members on board, including 5 children. He also mentioned that all possible efforts are being made to search for the missing plane.
However, Russia’s Emergency Ministry reported a slightly lower figure, stating there were around 40 passengers on board.
Authorities are continuing the search and rescue operation, but the plane’s fate remains unknown.
