A dispute emerged between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during Zelensky’s visit to the U.S. for a key mineral agreement.
According to BBC, while discussing the deal at the White House, tensions grew between the two leaders, leading Zelensky to walk out of the meeting. He accused Trump of treating him disrespectfully, which intensified the situation.
Trump had expected to sign an agreement for U.S. involvement in Ukraine’s mineral industry. However, Zelensky rejected several of Trump’s proposals, expressing frustration over U.S. support for Russia. He also disagreed with Trump’s claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin supports peace efforts, insisting that there should be no agreement with Putin.
As tensions increased, Zelensky left the White House, and the planned joint press conference was canceled. Later, Trump posted on social media, saying Zelensky could return if he was willing to work towards peace.
