Simultaneous protests in the Kathmandu Valley are taking a toll on vehicular movement on April 8, causing inconveniences to the public.
Along the Baneshwor-Maitighar road section, teachers are staging protests today as well, as part of their effort to make the government address their one-point demand: The passage of the long-pending School Education Bill through the Parliament.
At the Balkhu area (on the side of the Examination Controller’s Office) along the Ring Road, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party is staging its protest demanding the restoration of the institution of monarchy and Hinduism as the state religion.
An RPP leader participating in the protest said that all was quite on their front.
Along the Shanti Batika-Baluwatar road stretch, victims of cooperatives, micro-finances, banks and loan sharks are at the helm, demanding the fulfillment of their demands like loan waiver and legal action against the cooperatives involved in defrauding depositors.
At the same time, Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal is also staging a rally from Jawalakhel to Maitighar.
Bishnu Giri, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, offered nepalverifiednews.com a brief overview of their effort to minimize the impact o the traffic system: On the left lane at Balkhu along the Ring Road, near the Examination Controllers’ Office, there is some disturbance (due to the RPP’s protest).
But there is no disturbance on the other side of the road. This means vehicles heading toward Koteshwor from Kalanki can use the Ring Road.
We are diverting the vehicles heading toward Kalanki, directing them to head to their destination via Kalimati. As for vehicles heading to Koteshwor from Kalanki, there's no disturbance as they use the left lane.
