The US government has officially designated “The Resistance Front” (TRF) as a foreign terrorist organization. This announcement was made through an official statement by the US State Department, according to BBC Hindi.

TRF is known as a front group of the banned Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The group had claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in Pahalgam, India, this April, in which 26 people, including one Nepali citizen, were killed.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the Pahalgam incident as the deadliest terrorist attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. TRF has also claimed responsibility for several other attacks on Indian security forces, including a recent one.

Earlier, on May 7, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had also stated in a press briefing that TRF was behind the Pahalgam attack. India has said TRF is just a cover name used by Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is already banned by the United Nations.
