Ukraine, US Agree on 30-Day Ceasefire, Russia's Support Expected

Ukraine and the United States have agreed to a 30-day temporary ceasefire. The agreement was reached during high-level talks between Ukrainian and American delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Ukraine accepted the US proposal after the US pledged to resume security assistance and continue intelligence sharing without restrictions.

At a White House event, US President Donald Trump announced Ukraine’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal and expressed hope that Russia would also support it.

According to the BBC, Trump stated that he would engage in direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to promote mutual understanding.

During the negotiations, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Saudi Arabia’s mediation efforts and emphasized that Russia should now accept the ceasefire terms and move towards real peace talks.

Meanwhile, Russian state news agency TASS reported that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova hinted at the possibility of US representatives contacting them soon.
