Tribhuvan University is holding its 51st convocation ceremony today at its central campus in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, with more than 16,300 students set to receive their degrees.
Making the event historic, Japanese physicist Prof. Takaaki Kajita, a Nobel Prize winner in Physics (2015) and professor at the University of Tokyo, is attending the ceremony as the chief guest, the first Nobel laureate to do so at TU. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal said all preparations, including seating and pavilion construction, have been completed.
Around 41,000 people, including graduates and their guardians, are expected to attend the convocation. The university said that out of 89,191 students who completed their studies at various levels, 16,380 have applied to participate in this year’s ceremony.
