Trump Opposes Netanyahu’s West Bank Annexation Plans Amid Gaza Crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump has firmly opposed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to annex the West Bank, stating, “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank… It’s not going to happen.” This declaration came ahead of Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly on Friday, BBC reported. 

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu on Monday and expressed optimism about nearing a deal concerning Gaza. He mentioned, “We’re getting pretty close to having a deal on Gaza, and maybe even peace.”

The United Nations and several Western nations, including the UK, Germany, and France, have condemned Israel’s annexation plans. UN Secretary-General António Guterres described such actions as “morally, legally, and politically intolerable.” Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, addressing the UN General Assembly via video, reiterated his commitment to a peace plan proposed by France and called for a Palestinian state to assume full responsibilities for the Gaza Strip following an Israeli withdrawal.

The situation remains tense, with global pressure mounting on Israel to end its occupation and military actions in Gaza. The international community continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict.
