The Ministry of Health and Population is getting ready to start a nationwide HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign on Magh 22, 2081, to prevent cervical cancer.
In some districts, officials are deciding how many girls will get the vaccine, while in others, health workers are being trained to give the vaccine.
In Siraha, the local health branch, with help from the District Public Health Office, has trained health workers for the vaccination. From Magh 22 to 29, around 7,500 girls aged 10 to 14, including those from 60 schools (grades 6 to 10), will receive the vaccine.
In Siraha Municipality, 32 health workers from 22 wards have been trained, and 21 health institution leaders were trained earlier.
In Baglung, about 11,555 girls will get the vaccine. The first phase will be from Magh 22 to 28 in six municipalities, and the second phase will run in four municipalities until Falgun 3.
In Tanahun, more than 14,000 girls will receive the vaccine. It will be given to girls in grades 6 to 10, as well as girls aged 10 to 14 who are not in school. Special vaccination centers will also be set up in villages and remote areas to make sure more girls can access the vaccine.
