Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will stay closed until 6 PM today because of thick smoke covering the airport and much of the Kathmandu Valley.
Airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa said that all regular flights are on hold for now. Only emergency and medical flights are being allowed.
Earlier, the airport was expected to reopen by 12 noon, but the closure has been extended as visibility and safety issues continue.
