Three Arrested for Attempting Protest at Maitighar Despite Ban on Gatherings

Police have detained two more individuals for attempting to stage a protest at Maitighar Mandala, bringing the total number of arrests to three.

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, those arrested include Dr. Nicholas Bhusal and SP Sah, in addition to Sanji Dahal, who had been taken into custody earlier.

Authorities said the arrests were made after the group tried to hold a demonstration at Maitighar despite the Kathmandu District Administration Office explicitly denying permission for any public protests.

Members of the Gen-Z movement had gathered at Maitighar to protest, prompting police to tighten security in the Maitighar–New Baneshwor area. A heavy deployment of both Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel has been placed to prevent further unrest.
