Teachers Ready for Talks, With A Rider.....

Teachers of community schools, who have been staging a protest for about two weeks as part of their latest round of efforts to press the federal government to implement the six-point deal signed with them in September 22, 2023, said they are ready for talks with the government if the Cabinet endorses some of the pledges made in the past.

Since Thursday, a task force of teachers has been holding talks with the Ministry of Education. The ministry, in turn, will discuss the matter with the Ministry of Finance.

Somnath Giri, president of the Nepal Teachers’ Association Federal Working Committee, said: Part of the pledges made in the past are related with the Cabinet, part with the Teachers’ Commission and part of them need to be incorporated in relevant regulations.

We are ready to constitute a panel for talks with the government if the Cabinet does its bit, he said.
