Due to the extreme heat, Bharatpur Metropolitan City has declared a school holiday from June 11 to June 13 (Tuesday to Friday). The decision applies to all schools in the city. According to Subash Chandra Acharya from the education division, the move was taken to protect children from the rising temperatures, which have recently reached between 37°C and 40°C in Chitwan. Parents have been requested to keep their children indoors during the day and not let them swim in rivers, ponds, or go fishing.
Likewise, the Inaruwa Municipality in Sunsari district has also given schools a three-day break from Tuesday to Friday. The municipality’s chief administrative officer, Dilli Niraula, confirmed the decision, citing rising temperatures across eastern Nepal, including Inaruwa.
In addition, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City has announced a one-day holiday for all public and private schools due to the heatwave. Acting Mayor Sangita Chaudhary issued a public notice on Tuesday, stating that this step was taken to ensure the safety of students during the hot weather.
