Sachin Dhakal, chairman of FC Chitwan, has withdrawn his candidacy for the House of Representatives under the proportional representation list of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Dhakal announced the decision on Saturday after facing widespread criticism over his inclusion in the party’s closed proportional list submitted to the Election Commission. In a Facebook post, he said he was stepping back out of respect for the spirit and principles of Nepal’s constitutional proportional electoral system, citing personal reasons.

Reaffirming his commitment to the campaign for good governance and a prosperous Nepal through collective youth leadership, Dhakal said he remains ready to take on political responsibilities in the future in the interest of the nation and society.

He also thanked the party leadership for trusting him with the nomination, noting that youth-led entrepreneurship and innovation are key to social transformation and national development. Dhakal is the son of businessman Chandra Dhakal and is himself active in the tourism and hospitality sector.
