Russia Announces Temporary Ceasefire in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire in the Ukraine war.

On the occasion of Easter, Putin stated that Russian forces would halt all military operations from Saturday 6 PM to midnight on Sunday, lasting nearly 30 hours, according to local time.

A statement released through the Kremlin’s official Telegram channel mentioned that Putin expects the Ukrainian side to also observe the ceasefire.

However, he warned that if Ukraine violates the ceasefire or engages in any provocative actions, Russia would respond accordingly.

Meanwhile, despite Putin’s announcement of the "Easter ceasefire," Ukraine has reported continued attacks. According to the BBC, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said they are committed to the ceasefire, but Russia is still carrying out assaults.
