Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has accused the government of detaining him in a vindictive and biased manner. Describing the report prepared by the commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 23 and 24 as “incomplete and unverified,” he claimed that the criminal charges filed against him were baseless.
According to him, he was taken into custody based on that very report. However, he stated that he was eventually released following a court order.
In a social media post, he wrote, “Although I was detained for 13 days on the basis of a biased, vindictive, incomplete, and unverified report prepared by the commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 23 and 24, I have ultimately been released.”
He also expressed high respect for the Supreme Court for issuing the mandamus order and stated that he is a person who abides by the law and has full faith in justice. He further added that his legal and political fight will continue in the coming days.
Lekhak expressed gratitude to all justice-loving citizens, legal professionals, judicial officials, rights activists, various political parties and leaders, journalists, and well-wishers who raised their voices for his release.
“I would like to thank all the justice-loving brothers and sisters, legal professionals who supported me tirelessly, judicial officials, rights activists, political parties and leaders advocating for justice, well-wishers, and journalists. I also express my deep respect to the honourable Supreme Court for issuing the mandamus order. I abide by the law and believe in justice. The remaining legal and political battle will continue,” he added.
