Private Sector Urged to Step Up as Govt Promises Strong Support

Kathmandu – At a meeting with business leaders, government officials emphasized the critical role of the private sector in steering Nepal’s economic recovery and assured that the state stands ready to back them in overcoming current challenges.

Industry, Commerce and Supplies Secretaries Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire and Krishna Bahadur Raut said essential goods remain in adequate supply ahead of the festive season and urged producers, traders, and retailers not to hoard or disrupt the market. They also appealed to the public not to panic, noting that the supply chain is stable and gradually normalizing.

The government has reopened the Korala border point to facilitate imports and is working to resume operations at Tatopani, while southern border checkpoints are already functioning smoothly.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Birendra Raj Pandey highlighted the severe damage caused by recent protests, which targeted factories, hotels, and private properties. Despite these setbacks, he reaffirmed the private sector’s commitment to recovery and called for closer collaboration with the government to restore business and investor confidence.
