US President Donald Trump has announced the removal of all sanctions on Syria. He said the way was opened for this decision after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's government last year.
According to the BBC, this move is seen as a major victory for Syria’s current leader, Ahmed Al-Sara. In December, Al-Sara took control by removing the Assad family from power.
Earlier, the US and Saudi Arabia had signed a major defense deal worth $142 billion. This agreement was made during President Trump’s four-day visit to Saudi Arabia. As part of the deal, Saudi Arabia will buy advanced military equipment and services from American defense companies.
