CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has criticized the government for ignoring the problems of landless and squatter communities while favouring land mafias through its policies.
Speaking in Parliament during the discussion on the government’s new policies and programs for the upcoming financial year, Prachanda said the government seems more focused on helping brokers and mafias than on solving the real issues of poor people. He was upset that only one short line was written in the policy document about helping landless people.
He asked, “If the government is not serious about the rights of landless people, how can it justify bringing new laws that help land mafias? This kind of behaviour weakens the government’s claim of promoting social justice and inclusion.”
Prachanda also pointed out that the policies seem to be written to benefit mafias. “You only included a single line for managing the landless, but you are ready to bring new land laws that favor the rich and powerful. How can people trust such decisions?” he said.
In short, Prachanda accused the government of caring more about powerful groups and not doing enough for poor and landless citizens.
