The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has instructed private medical colleges to pay the resident doctors their allowance in keeping with a government decision. This directive comes in line with the decision of the Medical Education Commission, which the ministry has reminded the medical colleges about.

The 16th meeting of the Medical Education Commission under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had decided that residential doctors should be paid an allowance equal to the eighth level of the government health service, which is Rs 48,737 per month. The ministry has asked the private medical colleges to immediately provide this allowance to residential doctors.

In a statement, the ministry also emphasized that any residential doctors currently on strike should not be discouraged from returning to work. They should not face any obstacles, and their educational activities should not be affected. The ministry has urged all universities and related bodies to ensure that the doctors can continue their work and studies without any hindrance.

The move comes amid the resident doctors' protest for better working conditions, including fair compensation. The ministry's directive is seen as an effort to resolve the ongoing issues and ensure that medical education and healthcare services are not disrupted. The government aims to draw the attention of medical professionals while maintaining the smooth functioning of the healthcare system.
