The Nepali people who were removed by America and made to return to their homeland were being questioned by the Nepal Police's Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau. The immigrants landed at Tribhuvan International Airport from an American chartered flight and were taken by the police to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau for inquiry.
According to the spokesperson of the bureau, along with Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar, preliminary inquiries found that the Nepali people were sent back to their homeland for violating immigration laws. However, the deportees did not express a willingness to file cases against those who facilitated their travel to the U.S., Kunwar stated.
A total of 8 deportees returned to their country through a chartered flight, along with one from a regular flight. According to U.S. government records, from 2019 to 2024, a total of 389 Nepalis were deported. During President Joe Biden’s tenure, nearly 5,000 Nepalis reportedly entered the U.S. illegally.
