Petroleum exploration in Dailekh is nearing completion, with only 70 meters of drilling remaining. As of Wednesday, 3,930 meters of drilling work have been completed in the Jaljale area of Bhairabi Rural Municipality-1, where the project began on May 10. The drilling is expected to be completed by the end of the month, with the Department of Mines and Geology confirming that the project is progressing on schedule.

The exploration project, funded by a Rs 2.5 billion grant from the Chinese government, has seen the successful completion of seismic, geological, magneto-telluric, and geochemical surveys by a Chinese technical team. A team of 80 workers, including both Chinese and Nepali staff, is carrying out the drilling operations on 45 ropanis of land acquired in the Jaljale area. The project is being jointly implemented by the Department of Mines and Geology, China Geological Survey, and Cibu Drilling Engineering Company.
