Badri Prasad Pandey, Nepal's Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has received the 'Tourism Minister of the Year' award for the Himalayan region at an event in Berlin, Germany. The award was given during the ‘World Tourism and Aviation Summit-2025,’ organized by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA).

This honor is part of the ITB Berlin annual awards, which have been given since 1999 to tourism ministers who have made significant contributions to the tourism sector.

Tourism business owners attending the event called this award international recognition of Nepal's efforts to boost tourism. They credited Pandey's leadership and the government’s tourism policies for this achievement.

In response to the award, Pandey said it should be seen as a team effort for Nepal’s tourism industry, not just his personal achievement. He also spoke about how artificial intelligence is playing a bigger role in improving tourism services and mentioned Nepal's focus on community-friendly tourism, eco-friendly hospitality, and increasing investment in green infrastructure.

Before receiving the award, Pandey took part in the ITB Ministers Summit-2025, where global tourism leaders discussed the future of sustainable travel and digital innovations in the industry.
