Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a fierce attack at the UN General Assembly on Friday, denouncing the recognition of a Palestinian state by several Western nations as a “mark of shame.” His speech prompted dozens of diplomats to walk out, leaving the hall largely empty, while protesters rallied outside in Times Square against Israel’s war in Gaza, BBC reported.

Netanyahu vowed Israel would never allow a Palestinian state, rejected UN genocide findings, and accused Iran-backed groups of fuelling regional conflict. In a dramatic move, he even arranged for his speech to be broadcast via loudspeakers near Gaza and claimed Israeli intelligence had hacked phones to stream his words directly, actions his critics slammed as “childish propaganda.”

Meanwhile, opposition figures in Israel accused Netanyahu of deepening the country’s diplomatic isolation, while Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called for peace talks a day earlier.
