The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased slightly on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. The index went up by 4.59 points and closed at 2,640.54 points.
The market stayed mostly down during the day but improved in the final half hour of trading, helping the index finish in positive territory.
Trading activity was a bit lower than the previous day. On Wednesday, shares worth Rs 5.17 billion were traded, while on Thursday the total turnover reached Rs 4.90 billion.
Out of all the traded companies, share prices of 129 companies increased. Prices of 115 companies fell, and 15 companies remained unchanged.
Changes in sector-wise indices were small, staying within one percent. Banking rose by 0.30 percent, development banks by 0.18 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.40 percent, hydropower by 0.32 percent, life insurance by 0.33 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.49 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.26 percent.
