The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) ended lower on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. The benchmark index dropped 18.40 points to close at 2,487.17.
A total of Rs 3.27 billion worth of shares were traded during the day. Out of all listed companies, 197 saw their prices fall, 45 gained, and 9 remained unchanged.
Only the banking and mutual fund sectors showed gains, while all other sectors, including hydropower, finance, development banks, insurance, and manufacturing, declined.
Market experts said investors sold shares to book profits after recent gains, and many remained cautious about mid-cap and hydropower stocks.
