A group of Nepali Congress (NC) provincial and district presidents supporting a special general convention have insisted the event cannot be stopped, highlighting internal party tensions ahead of elections.
In a joint statement on Sunday, 26 district presidents and one provincial president stressed that the convention, scheduled for January 12, must follow party rules. They criticized the central working committee (CWC) for delaying decisions and accused some leaders of attempting to block the event.
The statement also urged the NC to approach the March 5 general elections with renewed leadership and energy. Key signatories include Lumbini Province President Amar Singh Pun, Nawalpur President Mahendra Dhoj GC, Baitadi President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Arghakhanchi President Keshav Shrestha, Dhankuta President Dinesh Rai, Bhojpur President Binod Bantawa, and Terhathum President Arjun Tumbahamphe.
